The Waitrose Farm Assessment (WFA) is an initiative started in 2011 by the Waitrose Agronomy Group allowing suppliers to assess growers against a range of questions covering safety, sustainability and quality.
The initiative was launched following the publication of the Foresight Report on The Future of Food and Farming. This report highlighted the challenges of future food production.
Working with our suppliers, we are seeking to understand how growers engage with these challenges and how continuous improvement can be measured and managed with a view to providing accurate data for research.
The assessment process is not about one farm, one country or one supplier, it’s about the whole world wide farming process, and its success lies with the combined effort of many people. I would like to thank all the growers who took part and the suppliers who have worked to bring this initiative to life.
